Dorint Airport-Hotel Zürich
Five minutes away from the airport and 30 minutes away from the city centre with a direct tram is the Dorint Airport-Hotel Zürich. (in a jogging route in the morning, I also found out that, super close, there are farms and a beautiful forest for those who want to get some exercise while staying here 😉)
After visiting Essential by Dorint in Basel last year and Dorint Beatenberg in June this year, it was time to try out the last of the (at least for now 😉) combo - the Zurich location.
It was my first time staying in the region where I used to live before embarking on the Hotel Nomad journey. A city where I know how things work, where things are, and where my social life also mainly resides. But it was an exciting opportunity to experience it from another perspective.
It went fast until I acclimated to the Hotel and started feeling at home at Dorint Zurich. The genuine and friendly staff made it all easy.
The Hotel comprises over 100 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, a lovely garden and various sitting options around the lobby. Great for working or dining, drinking and socializing.
For business visitors, it is a good place for holding meet-ups, conferences, meetings, or home office. The Hotel offers live cooking (waffles, candy bars and fruits) and lunch breaks for seminars.
The focus of the Hotel used to be more targeted at business individuals and corporates but is now repositioning itself also to attract leisure visitors, which makes sense. The prices are much more affordable than staying in the city centre, but you are still very well connected and have the comfort of a 4* establishment.
Zurich, in my opinion, is a must-visit when coming to Switzerland (I guess I am somewhat biased 😅). Its charm is simply unique. The lake, the river, the old town, the spots for coffee and car-free squares where individuals go to read a book, meet friends, have a picnic, or simply be, makes you want to wander around the city the whole day. Back at the Hotel, the staff is international and open, always eager to serve and help however they can. You can see they enjoy doing what they do.
As mentioned when visiting the other two Hotels, this is also part of a franchise of the German Dorint group but run by Dorint Switzerland, which is responsible for all the Houses in the country. But the family feeling of the staff at the location prevails.
From my room, I could watch the airplanes flying by from all different airlines, imagining which destination was set for those travellers. Stunning sunsets and rainbows aggregated even more to the experience.
I'm incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity of living here for two weeks and exploring this area of Zurich I did not know yet.
Thank you to the entire staff who helped me and made special lunches so I could eat well at midday (since it is vacation season, the restaurant was officially closed during lunchtime, but they accommodated themselves to cook and prepare something delicious continuously - as a foodie, no words describe how thankful I am for this kind gesture ♥️)
All in all, if you're looking for a place to stay close to the airport, or for a more extended period in Zurich with high quality but not pay the super high rates in the city, I can recommend this home; that was mine for two weeks.
