Verena's Boutique Villa au Lac Part II
I have no words to describe how paradise this place feels like.
I've met Vreni, the owner and allrounder of Verena's Boutique Villa au Lac, in the winter months. I've spent a few good weeks with her and was looking forward to returning for the summer season.
It is even better than I imagined.
Think about a place where you can forget about all the problems, sleep deeply, and wake up renewed to the sound of cheerful birds, where you can swim in a mirror-like lake surrounded by mountains and tank all your energies.
During summer, morning hours have always been my favourite. While everyone is asleep, you see the sun rising, and you have the serenity of the lake all for yourself - a calmness that soothes your mind, where nothing else besides the here and now seems essential. Where you cherish and give value to the little things, to the things that matter most. It is a place to reconnect.
No wonder it is part of the Jakobsweg - a pilgrimage route that crosses Switzerland.
After a morning swim (you literally only have to cross the street to get to the lake), going back to the Villa and being welcomed with a rich breakfast buffet prepared wholeheartedly by the host, Vreni, makes the morning even more special. One can choose to enjoy the morning coffee while sitting at the Pavilion, enjoying the summer sun.
Visitors can enjoy the grassed garden in front of the Villa throughout the day. A perfect spot to enjoy a drink and snacks at the end of the day to wind off, read a book, play cards or chat with your travel companions.
At Verena's Boutique Villa au Lac, great talks, a relaxing atmosphere and hospitality that seconds to none are guaranteed. You will feel welcomed and embraced by the tranquillity of Sachseln - the name of the small and cute village mainly with locals around.
One can choose to book just a room or the entire Boutique, perfect for quality time with family and friends, ideally for a whole week to fully experience the house and surroundings. Following the spirit of "home outside of home".
If you don't have a car, not a problem, well-connected trains and buses will take you to the beauties that central Switzerland has to offer.
My week was short, so there was no time left to explore the surrounding region, but I look forward to going back to hike and bike across the mountain paths of Obwalden.
I can already imagine booking it for our next family reunion (currently spread in Brazil, Switzerland and Australia). So when you go, I'm curious to hear your tips and discoveries so we can include some of them in our itinerary 😉
