Hotel Collinetta
I feel that my time at Hotel Collinetta was somehow short for everything it has to offer. In a more remote neighbourhood, but still located close to the charming town of Ascona in the Italian part of Switzerland, the hotel is surrounded by nature and provides a non-comparable view to the stunning Lake Maggiore. The perfect spot to admire sunrises and sunsets and clear the mind.
The restaurant, the garden with its splendid scenery and the spacious rooms (especially the ones with the lake view), gives you a real Mediterranean holiday feeling, already upon arrival.
Due to my limited time there, I did not have the opportunity to use their indoor pool or explore the surroundings much, but my desire to go back prevails. Behind the hotel, the hill goes up, and there are various peaks and forests close-by to go hiking, biking and enjoy the best of nature. Only a few steps down the hill, there is also direct access to the lake, for the freshwater lovers.
The rich breakfast buffet will provide you with the necessary energy to fully explore the surroundings. The mouthwatering dinner dishes, prepared by the well-travelled cook Delio, will give you the high-quality nourishment to finish the day with a smile. Every day a new menu with fresh ingredients, beautifully presented and with splendid tastes is available, making it possible to stay a full week without getting bored of the food ;)
The terrace and garden facing the lake make it the perfect spot for an “aperitivo”, reading a book or simply enjoying a cup of coffee or tea to unwind.
The hotel is run by the friendly Swiss couple Luca and Annina. The warm and family touch of the hoteliers is also expanded and visible in the entire staff. I always appreciate open, friendly, uncomplicated and genuine individuals and Collinetta clearly incorporates these traits in their culture.
I hope to be back soon to explore more of its surroundings.
