"The Franzen family extends their greetings to you". The Christiania Mountain & Spa is a family-owned hotel that combines luxury, tradition and authenticity in Zermatt, Switzerland. A young team led by the second and third generation of the Franzen. You will have the chance to personally meet Katharina, Peter, Michel and Dominic during your stay.
It doesn't matter which weather is outside; the Resort has everything and a little more to offer. If you're an outdoorsy person, the famous Sunnegga funicular is around the corner, taking you to ski pistes and hiking trails. You are also only a five-minute walk away from the Gornergrat and the city centre. After a full day outside, you will be pleased to come back to an unwinding environment and recharge your energies in the Wellness & Spa area - the biggest in the village. A combination of pool, jacuzzi, different saunas and various massage offers with the in-house Masseuse Antje (make sure to book in advance, since these are pretty popular and you don't want to miss). The offer is wide enough if you're also more into staying indoors and indulging yourself - there are various relaxing corners to simply be. Independent of which daily program you choose, a rich dinner will be available. If you're more into a relaxing get-away, you're also at the right place.
With homemade dried meat and various other options to choose from, the rich breakfast buffet will give you the necessary energy for whichever activity you choose to undertake in your day. It might also be an energy refill if you want to exercise before indulging - with the gym and the 25m long pool opening already at 7 am, the early birds can wake up in full power and start moving, while the Matterhorn gets lighten up outside.
Be it from the room, the spa, the restaurant or the terrace, a glimpse of the Matterhorn is guaranteed. One can not stop admiring it. You could take pictures of it every hour, and each time it will differ from one another. If you're lucky with the weather a lunch by the Terrasse with its spectacular view is not be missed.
In the evenings, the cosy bar environment allows you to take a drink before or after dinner.
If you're looking for the best dish in the house, the famous Chateaubriand shall be your call, accompanied by good wine and delicious truffle fries, served personally by one of the Franzen Family members. You won't want to miss it. It is a full-on experience.
