Casa della Capra

Imagine the delight when combining bike, cuisine and art…that place exists! In the little town of Mergozzo, located in the North of Italy, Patricia Orem and Felipe Bianchi, parents of Teo (a 2-year old boy) and Margot (a beautiful Weimaraner), have opened the Casa Della Capra.

A Guesthouse with four well-decorated suites, a cosy living room facing the peaceful lake of Mergozzo, a terrace with a Jacuzzi, a restaurant and a lovely big garden constitute the House. They have not spared in the attention to detail; everything is super well decorated and embraces you to feel at home. A fully served breakfast is guaranteed for those choosing to stay overnight.

There are more than enough bikes to explore the surroundings for bike lovers. Felipe is passionate about the sport and can assist you in everything you need. Cycling tours for all levels can be scheduled on demand.

Felipe is also responsible for the delicious cuisine served in the Casa Della Capra restaurant - offering a menu with locally produced food and tastes that will make you want to go back. Also, here the attention to detail is not spared. One can also choose to book cooking classes and tastings.

The third pillar of the House is art - following the passion of Patricia (an artist herself), who gives her heart to make unique projects happen. Casa Della Capra becomes a space for pure expression through workshops, courses, exhibitions, or art residencies.

Together with my sister and Brazilian artist kaju, we had the chance to spend a week in this gem, participating in their Scambio program - an art residency week. Each had a private room and got immersed in the surroundings to create a final art to be showcased at the end of our stay. If you’re interested in reading more about what precisely an art residency is, click here.

On our second day in the Mergozzo, Patricia and Felipe took us on an e-bike tour to show some of the beauties the region has to offer, including parts of the Cadorna Line and the fish ramp at the Migiandone Bridge. It was a lovely day, where we visited different landscapes, with a stop for the picnic Felipe had thoughtfully prepared for us.

The next days focused on creating the art pieces we successfully presented on our last evening at the House.

kaju and I interlinked our results when exhibiting them. We grew up in the same household, have been living apart for nearly 12 years now, and had the opportunity to experience the Casa Della Capra together, each with their views. Even so, while exchanging during the week, we realised how similar our observations were and how intertwined the scope of our art was. Thus the decision to present it in a connected way. Here you can see the results from my side.

The art residency allows artists of all disciplines to explore projects, perspectives, materials and have a creative immersion.

Casa Della Capra is a hub for bikers, artists, good food lovers and/or anyone seeking a place to escape. A space for exchange and appreciation of the beauties the region has to offer. The House embraces various areas that one can fully relax and appreciate the simple things in life. The entire team made us feel at home instantaneously.

Whichever category you fit in, you will not regret booking a room here.
